Hello! My name is Emily Zannini. I am attending Our Lady of the Lake University pursuing my bachelor's degree in social work. I will be graduating in the fall of 2024 and currently completing my internship with Strengthening Relationships/Strengthening Families at Texas State University.

 

In the program, Strengthening Relationships/Strengthening Families, I have the opportunity to empower young parents to develop skills that will help them achieve their goals. Our young parents all have a common goal; to graduate with their high school diploma. While striving to reach this goal, many of our young parents face challenges related to a lack of a strong support system, experiences of judgement and feelings of rejection. Recognizing the unique challenges young parents face, this project aims to foster a sense of fulfillment and provide support for both the parents and their babies.

 

This project will benefit each young parent by providing essential items they may be struggling to obtain. With the upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, we seek to alleviate some of their stress by ensuring that they have the necessary resources. This support will allow them to focus more on spending quality time with their families and less on financial burdens that can accompany the Holiday Season.
